Því að lifa lífinu? / Why live life?” by Gústi - Extracts (1:48)
Composed and recorded by Icelandic singer-songwriter Gústi Hraundal at Sogn Prison outside Reykjavík, the piece reflects on life from inside the prison system.
Developed with Gústi’s blessing, the Prisons of Note project brought together an Oslo-based jazz ensemble alongside footage contributed by community members inspired by travel, nature and restorative practices.
Directed, shot and edited by Gavin Toomey in collaboration with Lucy Cathcart Frödén, Gústi Hraundal and the Prisons of Note team.
This film was produced as part of Prisons of Note: A Project about Music in Detention.
